Projects: This project documents the lives of Army wives living in Fairbanks, Alaska during and after their husband’s yearlong deployment to Iraq. It examines the personal background of each spouse as well as her relationship, the influence of the military on her life, and her community support system through interview footage and daily life. We watch as they gain a sense of independence and learn to deal with the isolation and extreme conditions of living 150 miles below the Arctic Circle. This film gives us a glimpse into the often-unseen impacts of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan on women here at home.
